Is FileX Open Source?
Yes! But remember, Open Source does not mean you can give/sell/trade this software. It is
still protected under US Copyright laws.
Can I modify the source code?
You can modify the source code as much as you like.
You may not however, redistribute the source code in any fashion; modified or unmodified.
FileX is covered under US Copyright and redistributing the code is a violation of this copyright.
If you do modify the code, any modifications, or problems caused by these modifications are not covered
under our support agreement. Also, when we release patches or upgrades, you will need to reapply your changes.
What's the difference in the branded and unbranded versions?
The only difference is that the VAXICOM logos and copyright notices are removed in the unbranded version.
To remove the VAXICOM copyright notice or logos without purchasing an unbranded license is a violation of
our Terms and Conditions.
How does the permissions system work?
The Super Admin creates Admins. The Admins create Directories and Users. By default, a new user has
access to nothing. Access must specifically be granted. An Admin can assign one of the following permissions
to a user on a specific folder:
Read Only
Read/Upload
Read/Upload/Create SubFolders
Access can be later changed, or completely removed. All through FileX's admin menu.
What is the file size limit?
FileX is only limited by your PHP setup. Your php.ini file specifies the max size for uploads. If you cannot
modify your php.ini, then your upload size will be limited to what it is set at. Contact your hosting provider to
find out what it is currently set at. If you can modify your php.ini, then you can increase the size limit to
what you want. We are currently using FileX in an environment where the max upload size is 999 MB and have not ran
across any issues. Remember however, this is still a web environment, and browser based uploads can be quirky on certain
browsers.
Can you install it for me?
Absolutely! We offer an install service for $50. We will upload the files to your server, set all necessary
permissions, and get the software running. If for any reason, we are unable to get FileX running on your server,
we will issue you a 100% refund. You must buy the installation when your purchase the software to be eligible for
this refund. Once the software has been delivered to you, you are no longer eligible for this refund.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, since the software is open source, once you purchase FileX we cannot refund your money. Please
utilize the demo system, and/or call us with any questions or concerns you may have prior to purchasing FileX.
If for whatever reason, you are unhappy with FileX, let us know and we will try to accommodate you. We're easy to
work with, and happy to make changes to make you happy.
The only exception to this is if when your purchase FileX, you
also purchase our installation service, and we are unable to get the software installed and running on your server. If you
purchase the software, then later purchase the installation service, you are not eligible for this refund, even if we cannot get the software
to run on your server. Once the software is delivered to you, you are not eligible for a refund.
